IS YOUR AVERAGE LENGTH LESS THAN 20 YARDS?

Which of the following three options will give you the quickest and highest chance of improvement in 2012?:

a) find a way to hit it longer off the tee;
b) spend the time improving your golf swing so that you can hit approach shots with precision; or
c) tool up and add to your skills so that you can get up and down in 2 more often, and never more than 3?

After your Putter, the Wedge is probably the most used club in your bag, so I guess that must factor into your answer.

Despite all the improvements made in the performance of the Driver; despite the proliferation of Hybrids and Rescues; despite a golf ball that doesn’t slice or hook anywhere near as much; we have not seen a reduction in either scores or the average handicap.

Golfers have not invested enough in their short-game; equipment manufacturers in the search for extra distance have probably left us short-changed (more on that next week), and even the changes being made by the games regulators have all conspired to make the short-game more difficult.

You should take charge of your short-game. What is your average score when you are in the 50 – 90 yard range? What can you do to improve it? Play better golf. Improve your short-game.
